T-Nut Sliding

T-Nut Sliding

Rectangular-bodied T-slot nuts inserted from the open end of aluminium extrusion profiles and slid to position. The flat body matches the slot cross-section for even load distribution and built-in anti-rotation in pre-assembled framing connections.

Specification #

Material Carbon steel (zinc plated), stainless steel
Thread Sizes M3 to M12 (metric); 1/4-20, 5/16-18 (imperial)
Slot Width Compatibility 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm (matching profile series)
Insertion Method Slide-in from profile end only
Body Shape Rectangular (matches T-slot cross-section)
Anti-Rotation Built-in via flat sides matching slot walls

Benefits #

Sliding T-nuts provide the strongest hold among T-nut types by fully engaging the T-slot cross-section with a flat rectangular body. Unlike drop-in or hammer nuts, the sliding design distributes bolt clamping force evenly across both slot walls, maximising pull-out resistance for structural and heavy-duty mounting applications. The flat sides act as a built-in anti-rotation mechanism, eliminating the need for serrations or spring mechanisms that can wear or fail over time. Lower manufacturing cost compared to spring-loaded or drop-in variants makes sliding T-nuts the economical choice for initial frame assembly. The trade-off is that they must be pre-loaded from the profile end before assembly, which requires planning connection points in advance. For CNC frames, machine enclosures, and industrial workstations built from scratch, sliding T-nuts deliver reliable, cost-effective fastening at every joint.

Common Applications #

Sliding T-nuts are used during initial assembly of T-slot aluminium extrusion frames where pre-insertion from the profile end is practical.

  • Initial frame assembly of modular aluminium structures
  • CNC machine frames
  • 3D printer frames
  • Industrial workstations and enclosures
  • Automation equipment
  • Robotic structures
  • Machine guards
  • Heavy-duty mounting and support
