Benefits #

Nylon washers solve multiple engineering challenges that metal washers cannot address. They provide complete electrical isolation between conductive metal components, preventing short circuits and stray current paths in electrical assemblies. When dissimilar metals are joined, nylon washers break the galvanic cell, eliminating corrosion caused by electrochemical potential differences. Their inherent damping properties absorb vibration and reduce noise transmission through bolted joints. Nylon is resistant to oils, fuels, and many chemicals, making it suitable for automotive and industrial environments. The lightweight construction reduces assembly weight, and the non-magnetic property is critical in sensitive instrumentation. FDA-compliant grades are available for food contact applications where metal contamination must be avoided.

Common Applications #

Nylon washers are used in assemblies requiring electrical isolation, corrosion prevention between dissimilar metals, or non-metallic contact surfaces.
