SS Square Nut

Stainless steel square nuts per DIN 557 are four-sided internally threaded fasteners with greater bearing surface contact than hex nuts. The square geometry prevents rotation in slot, channel, and recessed mounting applications, available in A2 and A4 grades for corrosion-resistant connections.

Benefits #

Square nuts solve a specific engineering challenge: preventing nut rotation during assembly when only single-sided wrench access is available. The four-sided geometry allows the nut to be captured in slots, channels, or square holes, enabling bolt tightening from the opposite side without holding the nut. The larger bearing surface distributes clamping load over a wider area than hex nuts, reducing contact pressure on soft or thin materials. In mounting rail and track systems, square nuts provide positional stability that hex nuts cannot achieve. Stainless steel A2 and A4 construction provides corrosion resistance without coatings, and the four-sided geometry is more resistant to rounding than hexagonal nuts during repeated installation.
