Nyloc Nut
Prevailing-torque hexagon nut with a nylon PA66 insert that creates friction-based locking resistance. Manufactured to DIN 985 (ISO 10511) or DIN 982 (ISO 7040), providing vibration-resistant fastening without separate lock washers.

Benefits
#
Nyloc nuts solve the persistent engineering problem of fastener loosening under vibration and dynamic loading. The nylon PA66 insert deforms elastically around the bolt thread during installation, generating a prevailing torque that maintains clamping force without supplementary lock washers or thread-locking adhesives. This reduces part count, assembly time, and inventory complexity in production environments. The friction-based locking mechanism does not damage bolt threads, allowing a limited number of reuse cycles while maintaining effective resistance. For automotive, machinery, and appliance applications operating below 120°C, nyloc nuts provide reliable vibration resistance at lower installed cost than mechanical wedge-locking systems or structural adhesives. Available in Class 8 and 10 steel grades as well as A2 and A4 stainless steel, they cover a broad range of strength and corrosion resistance requirements in moderate-temperature service.
Common Applications
#
Nyloc nuts are specified wherever vibration-induced loosening threatens joint integrity in moderate-temperature environments.
- Automotive suspension, chassis, and body assemblies
- Electric motor mounting and appliance assembly
- General machinery with rotating or vibrating components
- Bicycle and motorcycle component fastening
- Agricultural equipment and implements
- Conveyor systems and material handling equipment
- HVAC fan and blower assemblies
- Robotics and automation equipment
- Pump and compressor mounting
- Drum kits and musical instrument hardware
