Benefits #

Square nuts solve a specific engineering challenge: preventing nut rotation during assembly when only single-sided wrench access is available. The four-sided geometry allows the nut to be captured in slots, channels, or square holes, enabling bolt tightening from the opposite side without holding the nut. The larger bearing surface distributes clamping load over a wider area than hex nuts, reducing contact pressure on soft or thin materials.
